A couple of nights ago I was lucky enough to be at the launch of their new beer , Longhorn IPA. It’s the second new beer to come out of Purity’s shiny new brewery and it’s their firs foray into the world of keg beer.
The launch took part at Bar Du Vin in Birmingham, which was buzzing with excitement and plenty of people tucking into the bar full of Purity beers, all were in great form as you’d expect but Longhorn really hit the spot for me, a lovely light copper colour with a slight haze due to it being unfiltered, Topped with a decent sized head, it looked great in the new glassware too. It’s not as gassy as you might expect from a keg in fact it’s quite soft, which means that even after a couple of pints it’s still so easy to drink, It’s packed full of flavour and plenty of hops, loads of grapefruit and citrus in the aroma and in the taste, just what you’d expect from a nice fresh IPA.
ABV wise it’s nothing crazy at 5% which is great as it’s so drinkable it would be a shame to only have a couple of pints.
The evening was spent chatting, putting the world to rights and munching on some free Longhorn Sliders amongst other things before heading for a sneak peak at the new Pure Bar and Kitchen, which I have to say is looking mighty impressive and should be a brilliant place for the beer fans of Birmingham. Once the preview was over we headed to a couple of pubs in town, the beers were mixed but in Longhorn IPA they had a hard act to follow.
I was having that much fun I only took one photo and that was way to dark to use so you’ll have to imagine how good the IPA looked in the nice new glasses or wait for the official photos from the launch to appear on Purity’s twitter feed
Great beer purchased in stoke pound Bromsgrove but cannot find it anywhere else please. Let me know where to buy
