Yarm has it’s first specialist beer and drinks shop, with roughly 180 beers, 24 ciders, 70 spirits, 150 wines, 25 whiskeys and 20 liqueurs, a huge 98% of which are not sold in the supermarket, what’s more if they don’t stock something a customer is trying to find they will do their best to source it for them.
Director Sam said
“We receive many recommendations which is great as we constantly change what we sell, so always having a different choice however there are a few that prove very popular and therefore always stock.
We are a family run independent shop who is already established within the drinks industry through our other company. Opening the shop was just the next stage and we hope we can offer some lovely gift ideas as well as everyday drinks to enjoy.”
I’ve popped in a couple of times now and was impressed with the range of drinks they stocked, I picked up a variety of bottles from Partizan, Wild Beer Co, Brewfist, Oakham, Wylam and Berliner-Kindl. I’ve also got my eye on a couple of bottles of gin they stock. I had a really hard time choosing what to buy, the prices were competitive and i’ll certainly be going back.
The shop is located in Fairfax court on Yarm High Street and is open from 10-6pm Mon-Sat and 10-4pm Sunday, for latest news and stock alerts follow them on Twitter @lionsdenyarm
Called in today and the owner, Richard Marsden was behind the counter. Good selection of beers as you said, Andy but you forgot to mention the loyalty card scheme they run. Buy 10 bottles and get 10% off your next purchase. Applies to ciders as well. If you have trouble finding the shop (it’s tucked away down an alley off the High Street); look out for the Post Office sign or The Lotus Lounge restaurant, the shop is on the right hand side. Richard was saying that they source single cases so beer range is constantly being updated. The only downside being “when it’s gone, it’s gone” unless you request a special customer purchase. The latest Truefitt brewery offering (Grande Coffee Porter) should be available for the Easter weekend.

Thanks colin, I didn’t know they did a discount scheme, I’ll mention that next time I go in.
Correction to loyalty scheme info; Buy 12 bottles of beer / cider or 6 bottles of wine or 6 bottles of spirits and get 10% of your next purchase. You don’t have to buy them all at once either. A nice little card is stamped accordingly just like “free” coffee at Costa etc but a lot more satisfying !!
I am looking for good hard to gets rums.
