This was another of the cheap ales I picked up at the same time as the Barnsley Beers. I wasn’t sure what to expect as I had never even heard of Tomos Watkins or the Hurns Brewing Co.
When I opened the bottle it was that fizzy it nearly fizzed over, this also made it quite hard to pour without getting a massive head.
Once the head settled the beer was very light and pale, it had a quite obvious lemony smell.
Taste wise I wasn’t blown away by it, It was light, a little bit fruity, there was a tiny hint of hops but it also tasted quite yeasty, this mellowed out a little bit as the beer went down and it actually turned into quite a nice beer. Emily seemed to like it though…
At a little over £1 per bottle it offers a pleasant simple, drinkable session beer that isn’t packed full of flavour and is maybe a little bit too fizzy but has enough about it to make it worth buying.
